Given the continually rainy weather we’ve been having — no real relief from the humidity, though — today it’s “Storms” by Railroad Earth. A favorite from last year, making it on to my “Best of 2009″ mix,” which just happened to come up on my iPod shuffle earlier this evening before I left the office.

Another rainy day, so it’s Ann Peebles and “I Can’t Stand the Rain.”

Well, the phone seems to be working again, so here’s the Red Guitars with “Good Technology.”
They were apparently a minor English indie group from the early ’80s. I only learned about when Warren Ellis posted about them around two years ago. I liked the song enough to include it on August 2007 mix.

Our home phone has been down since yesterday’s thunderstorm. I put in a service request through their automated system, but the problem is almost certainly on their end, and we’re almost certainly a very low priority for them. I guess there’s always cell phones and Skype. (I have both, almost never use either.)
So, apropos of that, here’s an old favorite from Electric Light Orchestra, “Telephone Line.”

Can you guess what the weather was like here today?
