- Making Light asks, What is it with the zombies?
- Speaking of, dead poets reading their work. Jeffrey Ford isn’t wrong: it’s cool, but it is kind of a creepshow.
- William Shatner wants to be the next Prime Minister? Don’t do it, Canada!
- More on the Kindle 2.0 and the Authors Guild from current president Roy Blount, Jr. I less convinced the Author’s Guild is right about this, but I do think it’s a legitimate enough concern, at least from the way Blount and other writer-contract-readers are interpreting it. Then again, I am leaning more towards Neil Gaiman’s take on the whole thing. John Scalzi also makes some important additional points. I’m not sure it’s a non-issue, but I think it’s less of an issue than the Author’s Guild is worried about.

If Canada elects Shatner, it might keep off TV and movies for awhile. California might be screwed, but there’s been a pleasant lack of Arnold Schwarzenegger movies lately.
While I don’t agree with the Authors Guild on the Kindle text-to-speech issue, I can certainly understand why they feel threatened. I have no doubt the publishing industry tries to find every way it can to screw over writers, just like the RIAA screws over musicians.
Nice superhero-you!
