Yes, that seemed to be the general consensus at work.
I suspect, if not simply a fraud, it’s something relatively common — a comment at Gawker suggests a naked mole rat — but not indigenous to the area, not commonly seen by humans, or just in such a state of decomposition that it’s anybody’s guess.
It looks like it has something tied around its arm. It was a domesticated monster!
