Mr. Coppersmith Goes to Washington

So I’m headed to Washington, D.C., for the next few days, for this work thing, which is why I’m posting this, the Random Friday Guess 10, a little early. I’m going to be taking my laptop with me, but I have no guarantee of an internet connection or the opportunity to use it while I’m there — so it’s not impossible that you won’t hear from me until next Wednesday, when I return. (Or maybe Thursday. My train gets in kind of late.)

Anyway, have fun while I’m gone. The answers to last week’s lyrics are posted here. And, as always, good luck!

  1. “Sledgehammer” by Peter Gabriel, guessed by Eric B.
    This amusement never ends
  2. “Nobody’s Fault but Mine” by Led Zeppelin, guessed by Eric B.
Devil he told me to roll
  3. “Crossroads” by Don McLean, guessed by Occupant
You know I’ve heard about people like me
  4. “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Eva Cassidy, guessed by Eric B.
Someday I’ll wish upon a star
  5. “Hollow of Your Hand” by Jeff Black, guessed by Occupant
I cut a little closer to the ground
  6. “Squeeze Box” by the Who, guessed by Eric B.
She goes in and out and in and out and in and out and in and out
  7. “Mr. Blue Sky” by ELO, guessed by Eric B.
Now his hand is on your shoulder
  8. “Dark Stranger” by Kristy Krüger
I feel like we have met before
  9. “Please Call Me Baby” by Tom Waits, guessed by Eric B.
We do crazy things when we’re wounded
  10. “Whole Heap of Little Horses” by the Chieftains
Black and bay, sorrel and gray

  1. Well, not the Judy Garland version, but yeah, otherwise correct. Thanks for leaving some of them for everyone else, Eric. 😉

(And yes, obviously I have some internet connection here in D.C. We’ll see how long that lasts.)

  2. No guesses, but I think you should take this opportunity to look for a snow globe with the Capitol Building – or the White House – in it.

  3. I knew #1 and #6. I initially thought of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” for #4, but dismissed it. Just like my wife tells me during Jepopardy, always go with your gut.
