I put the iPod on shuffle, and this is what I get:
- “Not Alone Any More” by Traveling Wilburys, guessed by Eric B.
It hurts like never before - “When Yer Twenty Two” by the Flaming Lips
Eggs break when you walk on the scramble - “Flowers Never Bend with the Rainfall” by Simon & Garfunkel, guessed by Generik
My mind dances and leaps in confusion - “Listening Wind” by Talking Heads, guessed by Eric B.
Mojique thinks of days before Americans came - “Whispering Pines” by the Band
Let the waves rush in, let the seagulls cry - “Duvet” by Boa, guessed by Bryan
A shame, you seemed an honest man - “Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)” by Talking Heads, almost guessed by Eric B.
Take a look at these hands - “Stage” by Live, guessed by Kim
She was known for her child-care - “Anniversary Song” by Cowboy Junkies
And I’ll share them all for a cup of coffee - “Burning Bridges” by Pink Floyd, almost guessed by Eric B.
She breaks the golden band
This is what I got last week, if you’re still curious. Can you guess this week’s lyrics? Can you really?
As always, best of luck!
#1 — Traveling Wilburys, “No Alone Anymore”
#4 — Talking Heads, “The Listening Wind”
#7 — Talking Heads, “The Great Curve”
#10 — Pink Floyd, “Obscured by Clouds”
Is #3 “Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall” by Simon & Garfunkel? Did I finally get one right, one that Eric didn’t already identify first? Do you really have S & G on your iPod? Or is that line also contained in some other song, one that I’ve probably never heard before?
Close, very close… but not quite right on #7 and #10.
Generik: You mean like how Simon & Garfunkel used the lyric “I’m twenty-two now but I won’t be for long” in “Leaves that Are Green,” and then Billy Bragg went and used it in his song “A New England” as well? Nope, I don’t think so. This was Simon & Garfunkel all the way. I have their collected works on my iPod. (It’s one of the better CD purchases I’ve made in my day.)
8. Stage by Live
#6 – Duvet by Boa. Also, I think it’s the theme song to a Japanese cartoon.
I think it is. I couldn’t tell you which one, or which friend of mine included it on a mix CD at some point.
