  1. There’s no rhyme or reason to how I pick lines, really. Sometimes, I start to hear almost stories or themes begin to emerge, so I quote similar lines that play to those. (The “blood,” for instance, in the first two here.) Sometimes I have to pick the only line that won’t give away the entire song, or that doesn’t read like a million other songs. Sometimes, if it’s a very familiar song, I try to take the most obscure lyric in it. Sometimes I do the exact opposite, because I worry I’m being too hard on people.

    I could probably do opening lines regularly if this wasn’t actually random. (Although, I’ve got to be honest, I sometimes have my doubts about the randomness of my iPod. Some songs recur much more frequently than others.)

    Anyway, so far all the guesses have been right. That leaves just #2, #6, and #7.
