Oh, all right. Music meme time.

First, the Friday Random Ten (stolen from Glen and John, among others):

“Lost Cause” – Beck
“Tomorrow, Wendy” – Concrete Blonde
“With God on Our Side” – Bob Dylan
“Laid” – James
“Fade Into You” – Mazzy Star
“Are You Sure” – Willie Nelson
“Blue Suede Shoes” – Carl Perkins
“What I’d Say” – Ray Charles
“Be My Yoko Ono” – Barenaked Ladies
“Good Girls Don’t” – the Knack

And then there’s the Nameless Music Meme, which I’d noticed yesterday, thanks to Kim, and today, thanks to Eric, who goaded me into posting my own answers by including a link to me in his:

1. Total volume of music files on my computer:

iTunes says 326 songs, 1.2 days, 1.24 GB, and who am I to argue with iTunes? That’s only on this computer, of course, which isn’t actually my computer and, as such, doesn’t include most of the music I’ve copied from CD to computer. It includes, really, only stuff I’ve bought off of iTunes.

2. The Last CD I bought was:

The Very Best of the Vibrations, for a mix exchange project that had by then already gotten a little out of hand. The last CD I bought just because I wanted it was Pink Martini’s Sympathique.

3. The Last Song I Listened To Before Writing This:

Well, that would be “Good Girls Don’t” by the Knack, as mentioned above. Before that, before the whole top ten meme thing…maybe something on the radio. The last song I distinctly remember listening to on the train ride home was “Jet” by Wings.

3b. Song I’m Listening to Now/First Song That Came Up On Shuffle:

To play fair, I closed and re-opened iTunes, then set it to random again. “Woo Hoo” by the 5.6.7.8’s is now playing.

4. Five Songs I Listen To A Lot:

If iTunes is anything to judge by — and, again, who am I to argue with iTunes? — these would be:

“Will it Go Round in Circles” – Billy Preston
“And She Was” – Talking Heads
“Bust a Move” – Young MC
“The Best of Jill Hives” – Guided by Voices
“Are You Sure” – Willie Nelson

5) Five people I am passing this baton to:

Um, anybody who’s reading this and cares to play along, I guess. But that’s it, really.

And that is it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go not listen to some music for awhile.
