Last week. (Was it seriously only a week ago that my sister got married? At the same time: a whole week ago?) This week:
- “Justice in Ontario” by Steve Earle and the Dukes
In Kingston Town they’re locked up still - “Dancing with Myself” by Billy Idol, guessed by Kim
Or down in London town to go go - “Get this Party Started” by Shirley Bassey (orig. Pink), guessed by Kim
We’ll be looking flashy in my Mercedes Benz - “Brand New Car” by the Rolling Stones, guessed by Kim
Jack her up baby, go on, open the hood - “Black Dog” by Led Zeppelin, guessed by Clayton
Spent my money, took my car - “Last Train to London” by Electric Light Orchestra, guessed by Kim and Occupant
Underneath a starry sky, time was still but hours - “Changing of the Guards” by Bob Dylan, guessed by Occupant
I rode past destruction in the ditches - “God Only Knows” by Petra Haden (orig. the Beach Boys), guessed by Generik
But as long as there are stars above you - “Disconnect the Dots” by Smash Mouth, guessed by Occupant
Looking at the map and didn’t see the detour - “High Life” by the Grateful Dead, guessed by Kim
The wheels are muddy, got a ton of hay
Am I wrong, or is there almost a weird story emerging from these combined lyrics? Anyway, good luck!
#8, I believe, is God Only Knows by the Beach Boys.
Your #5s give me headaches. I think that’s a line from Whipping Post by the Allman Brothers Band, but knowing you, it’s probably something else entirely from someone who is completely obscure to me. As are the other eight, most assuredly.
It’s not “Whipping Post,” although that is in my iPod. I had to look it up, but the Allman Brothers lyric that I think is making your head hurt is “She took all my money, wrecked my new car.”
On the other hand, I would be very surprised if #5 is actually obscure to you at all.
5 – Black Dog – Led Zeppelin
2. Dancing with Myself – Billy Idol
3. Get This Party Started by Pink
4. Brand New Car by Rolling Stones
6 I think is ELO but I can’t think of the song title
10. Grateful Dead – I think it’s called High Life??
6. “Last Train to London” by ELO
7. “Changing of the Guards” by Bob Dylan
9. “Disconnect the Dots” by Smash Mouth
So that leaves just #1. Any takers?
